Operation Yahoo Serious: An Experiment in the Absurdity of Society

So during some recent downtime I found myself trolling through the Internet and came across both of these two gems of information.

Yahoo Answers! - How Much Listerine Does It Take To Get Drunk? and yes before you ask this was a real question on Yahoo Answers and has a ton of "answers". And

Does God Want Us To Genetically Improve Our Children?

Genetically Improve? Ya this isn't Gattaca moron. I'm sure God really cares about what we do with technology that doesn't and may never exist. After reading these my first thought is that people really are stupid. And that population control should be implemented immediately. My second is that nothing ever seems to be deemed absurd on the Internet. Information is information, nothing has more value than anything else it seems.

Remember when you were a kid in grade school and the teacher would explain something and then ask if anyone had any questions? And no one dared to raise there hand because they didn't want to look stupid and be made fun of? Even if it meant not understanding what she was saying and failing a test because of it? Well the Internet doesn't have that problem. No question is too stupid and no answer is too moronic. But is this a good thing? So I came up with Operation Yahoo Serious. Yahoo of course because Yahoo Answers is the epitome of exactly what I'm talking about. Which is clearly shown by Mr. Listerine's question and all the responded "answers". Although I was disappointed to see that no one gave the correct answer which was to shoot himself in the head. And I chose Serious for Yahoo Serious who is probably one of the greatest actors of the 20th century. I mean really, who doesn't have Young Einstein memorized? So what does Operation Yahoo Serious consist of? Simple, I posted two absurd questions on Yahoo Answers using my alter ego Sausage Mahoney. I'm then going to wait for the idiots of the world to "answer", and post the one's that are the most amusing to me. Why, you might ask? Simply because I can and also because it gives me great pleasure. It's also my belief that no one will see these questions as ludicrous but will take each one totally serious and "answer" with reverent conviction in there beliefs. The links to both of the questions are below. I chose to ask questions that dealt with both Religion and Science as this category generally seems to bring out the kooks who really love answering questions by giving "answers", which in fact are NOT facts and for the most part consist of 99% opinion and 1% information based loosely on something they overhead someone else saying or read about or heard about on TV or something that they can no longer remember. But still for some reason God only knows, thinks it's important enough to share with you. So my 1st question. And it's scary to think how fast I cam up with these I might add. Is "Does God consider breaking the space-time continuum a sin?" and my personal favorite "What does the Bible say about teleportation?" Seriously, teleportation, space-time continuum, give me a break. It should be really interesting to see what answers the world comes up with. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

No such thing as virginity, author says - That's because she's an idiot.

‘The Purity Myth’ says that we are too harsh on women who are sexual'

In “The Purity Myth: How America’s Obsession With Virginity Is Hurting Young Women,” author Jessica Valenti — founder and executive editor of Feministing.com — argues that our culture is too harsh on women who embrace sexuality. Her book looks at the fallacies of virginity, chastity and purity through the lens of our sexually charged media culture.

My first thought is, who's the "we", that the author claims are being too harsh on women who are sexual? Even the books title "America's Obsession With Virginity" doesn't give any insight into who exactly in America is obsessing over this. In fact I don't recall hearing anything about virginity or abstinence in the media for quite some time. Occasionally you'll hear about it on the news when it's discussed as part of some school program but who's paying attention to that anyways? Her idea that one's morality and how they use there body are two completely separate things is pretty ludicrous. As I posted on msn.com who ran this piece of crap article you don't see to many drug users volunteering at soup kitchens. That's because how a person treats there body is directly related to how they view there morality and self worth. More to come.

FALCON'S GAME 090708

So Daniel got us some great seats to the Falcon's Game last Sunday. It was my first and I had an awesome time. And our seats were unreal! Plus the cheerleaders were like all over me which is pretty sweet as well.

My Favorite New Toy - Nokia 770

So I've had my Nokia 770 for awhile now and I love this thing. I recently upgraded the memory in mine to 2Gigs which really improved it's performance. I generally use it to check my email and check on quotes for various stocks and such. It's pretty sweet.
